Adaptation from Terrestrial to Marine

Adaptation from Terrestrial to Marine

The four limbs of seals and sea lions have changed shape into flippers in order to adapt to underwater life. The rear legs of sirenians and whales were atrophied, and their tail became a "fin-like" organ finally enabling them to live underwater. Although the four groups, seals, sea lions, sirenians and whales, have different origins, their bodily shapes became similar after their adaptation to life in water.
