Flying Reptiles

During the era when land dinosaurs thrived, the reptiles expanding their activities into the skies were pterosaurs. Pterosaurs were the first vertebrates to advance into the skies. Their elongated front toes and skin changed, they developed large wings, and the bones which made up their bodies became light like birds. Also, their skulls assumed a shape which had low air and water resistance when they flew or bounded into water to capture prey.
