The First Life on Land

Fish appeared in the Cambrian Period (500 million years ago), and the number of varieties increased in the Devonian Period, creating "the era of fish." Eusthenopteron, which appeared towards the end of the Devonian period, possessed strong "fins" to support its body and "lungs" capable of breathing air. This fish is thought to be the ancestor of primitive amphibians.
