Alterations in the Elephant Skull

Alterations in the Elephant Skull

When elephants evolved, their skulls altered according to their increasing body size. Let's take a closer look.
1. When elephant body sizes increased, their head positions became higher and accordingly their skull bones became longer in front and back.
2. When the head became too big the neck became shorter in order to support this new weight. Consequently, the muscle supporting the neck-head became larger.
3. It is considered that while the once elongated skull shortened, the trunkremainedlong.
