New Wilson Cycle
The Canadian geologist John Tuzo Wilson proposed what is known as the Wilson Cycle theory. Under this theory, split and formation of the ocean floors occur due to mantle convection in the Earth's interior and supracrustal plate movement. The Wilson Cycle has been newly expressed under the idea of plume tectonics: the movement of heat and materials within a mantle called super plume and cold plume respectively. This theory is called the New Wilson Cycle.
